Santa Cruz Yacht Club

Welcome from Our Commodore

The Santa Cruz Yacht Club is located in the northern region of the beautiful Monterey Bay. The club was founded on the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf in 1928 and was moved to its present location on 4th Avenue in 1964. The club enjoys gorgeous views over the Santa Cruz Harbor to the Monterey Bay beyond and we have a tram from the harbor up to the club for easy access.

SCYC has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere which promotes fun for the entire yachting community. We are world-renowned for our members who designed and built ultra light displacement boats (ULDB’S) which revolutionized sailboat racing in the 1970’s. We take pride in our membership’s participation and support of local, regional and worldwide regattas. We host world-class regattas as well as national and local fun regattas. Some of the major events held at the club include the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Day on the Monterey Bay Regatta, One Design races, SCORE (Santa Cruz Ocean Racing Extravaganza) races, and the West Marine Fun Regatta (which benefits Junior sailing), as well as many local, national, world and Olympic-class regattas.

There are many enjoyable activities to participate in at SCYC, including sailing, racing, cruising, and many social functions. We have an award winning junior program and a growing intermediate sailing program for young adults. We are a volunteer-based yacht club, which brings us close together for the fun of it and leads to treasured lifetime bonds. Come sail with us on a Tuesday or Wednesday night and get involved. We have a fabulous caterer and dinners every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evening. You can find details for applying for membership here and we encourage all sail and power boaters to join. If you are in the area, please feel free to visit our clubhouse. Once here, our dedicated staff and members will make you feel at home.
