Interested in sailboat racing, cruising, fishing, the use of a private club, reciprocal privileges with other yacht clubs, social and fundraising events and dinners, camaraderie, the use of the hoist and showers, a discount for dry storage, and a fantastic junior sailing program?
The Santa Cruz Yacht Club welcomes all boaters to apply for membership and join our community of enthusiasts. Email us a info@scyc.org for more information.
Go Sailing Now
We would like to invite you to go sailing on Wednesday evenings during daylight saving hours (March-October). Many boats of all sizes go out sailing every Wednesday evening and visitors are always welcome. Many members gather at the SCYC hoist (West side of the South Harbor). Get to know some friendly people, then come up to the club and have a barbeque with us. This is a beautiful and enjoyable way to spend an evening on the Monterey Bay. Bring a friend.
You can also go racing during a Regatta if you are interested in this kind of sailing. It is often wet and wild. There are usually skippers that would like an extra crew-member to help race their boat. Visit the crew bulletin board in the club house.
If you decided to join the club, you could sail during club events/races and also cruise around the harbor or out in the Monterey Bay with a friend. As a member, you could also sail a small single-handed boat called a Laser. You could use one of these boats to learn to sail in. The lessons are a nominal fee. Junior membership (8-21 years) and Corinthian membership (21 to 35 years) fees are also very reasonable
